Scale Inspection/Certification Technician and Commercial Truck Driver

Rail Scale, Inc. provides certification testing services on railroad scales throughout the US and is currently seeking a driver/scale inspection/certification technician for its Salt Lake City UT – based certification team.

Responsibilities

The Salt Lake City certification team serves primarily the states of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona and California . The team will occasionally test in Montana, North/South Dakota, Oregon and Washington. Driver/techs are required to stay out some weekends but are home most weekends. The driver/technician will operate a 2015 Peterbilt 579 day-cab equipped with scale-testing equipment to cover the multi-state territory. Average nights out are four (4) to five (5) nights each week. This position DOES include some weekend layovers, when necessary, to meet demands of the testing schedule. NO WAKING UP IN TRUCK STOPS. Driver/techs stay in hotels every night they are out on the road and receive per diem to help cover the cost of food and lodging. (The amount of the per diem unspent during a particular month is calculated and paid out to the driver/tech at the beginning of the following month---tax-free cash in your pocket.)

Qualifications

Candidates MUST be able to communicate/coordinate in a professional manner with industry partners, scale company technicians and county/state Weights & Measures agencies to successfully perform railroad scale tests/certifications.

Requirements include a CLEAN MVR, CDL CLASS A and a MINIMUM of 1 YR OTR experience. Other requirements include a HS diploma or equivalency, mechanical aptitude, and proficient computer skills and strong/proven customer relations skills ARE AN ABSOLUTE MUST . Salary is competitive.

Overall compensation package includes per diem for lodging & meals (as previously discussed), competitive medical/dental/vision benefits and a 401(k) plan w/company match.
